We are very excited to be hosting a workshop with National Master Victor-Sawhney Duran. The workshop will be held at the Hampton Inn Dulles on Wednesday, November 26th (one day before Thanksgiving—kids should be off school). The workshop begins at 3:30 pm and ends at 7:30 pm.

Overview

• This workshop is only for kids (all ages under 18).

• This is a one-day in-person workshop on Wednesday, November 26th. The workshop will be held at the Hampton Inn and Suites Dulles on 22700 Holiday Park Drive, Sterling, VA 20166.

• This workshop will involve one USCF-rated ladder game with a G/25;d5 time control. (Ladder style pairings will be used, which involves pairing students to the most closely-rated other student possible.) After games are finished, the instructor will analyze the games together as a group with all the students.

Target Ratings Note

Camps are designed for students who are serious players. Many parents worry that their kids are "too high rated", but we get lots of high rated students in our camps. Our coaches are all master and experts capable of teaching advanced concepts. The lesson plans/curriculum are intended for kids who are serious tournament players who wants to get better. Do not worry if your student is "higher rated," as there will be other higher rated players for him or her to play.

10 AM Tournament (and discount)

We also have a scholastic tournament at 10 am at the same venue. About NM Victor Sawhney-Duran

Victor Sawhney-Duran earned the National Master title in 2024. His peak USCF rating is 2208. He currently teaches for DMV Chess part-time and works as a full-time FCPS public school teacher. Victor has over 10 years of experience teaching chess. Victor has competed in over 720 USCF-rated tournaments.

$65 by 11/10, $75 by 11/19, $85 on/after 11/20

NOTE: If you have multiple children you would like to register, we can offer you a 20% sibling discount. To sign up multiple children, please email josh@dmvchess.com and we will send a custom invoice for payment.

Venue and Logistics

This workshop will be held at the Hampton Inn and Suites Dulles on 22700 Holiday Park Drive, Sterling, VA 20166. The students will attend the workshop in the conference room. Parents may either drop their kids off or wait in the hotel lobby. The hotel has plenty of free parking.
