DMV Chess online camps are back for holiday weekends over 2025 ! We’re proud to have taught over 600 kids in our online camps.

Our camps are held via Zoom and lichess.org. Camps are open to all students of all skill levels in grades K through 8 as of the 2025-2026 academic calendar. Students from anywhere in the world can participate. We’ll do the best we can to make sure each camp group is large enough for campers to have a fun social experience but still small enough that each student gets personal attention from the instructor. All our camps feature USCF-online-rated games, so please make sure your child is a member of the US Chess Federation (we can help you sign up).

WHO CAN PARTICIPATE?

Our camps are suitable for all levels, from novice to advanced. When necessary based on who signs up, we can divide students into completely separate groups according to rating, with grade level as a secondary factor. Our camps all have Expert and Master instructors (a lot of them have FIDE titles as well), so there will be plenty of advanced material covered for our higher rated students. Instructors also know how to make sure beginners/new players do not feel left behind.

OTHER INFORMATION

Each day of camp begins at 11 am ET and ends at 5 pm ET. Please refer to the sample camp schedule at the bottom of the page for a rough outline of what a typical day of camp may look like. This schedule may vary slightly from camp to camp, as each class will have its own unique group of kids. If you have any questions, please email us at camps@dmvchess.com.

Target Ratings

Camps are designed for students who are serious players. Many parents worry that their kids are "too high rated", but we get lots of high rated students in our camps. Our coaches are all master and experts capable of teaching advanced concepts. The lesson plans/curriculum are intended for kids who are serious tournament players who want to get better. Do not worry if your student is "higher rated," as there will be other higher rated players for him or her to play.
