DMV Chess periodically gives out free entries into our extensive in-person tournament calendar.

We’ll also provide each student with a free US Chess membership once they compete in one of our tournaments! We hope this opportunity encourages students to practice chess outside of the afterschool program!

• The club meets on-site at Valley Elementary School every Wednesday from 3:45–4:45 p.m.
• The Fall 2026 session includes 7 meetings from October 28 through December 16.
• The club meets every Wednesday that school is in session. There will be no club on November 25 because of Thanksgiving break.
• The cost is $140 for the complete 7-meeting session. If you cannot afford the $140 fee, please contact us at josh@dmvchess.com. We do not want kids to miss out on Chess Club due to lack of funds.
• Each meeting lasts one hour and includes a 20–30 minute chess lesson followed by guided practice and playing time.
• The club is led by friendly DMV Chess coaches with extensive chess and tournament experience.
• We love helping children improve at chess and seeing the progress they make both on and off the board! More than 10,000 chess players have benefited from DMV Chess programs, and we're excited to bring an afterschool chess club to Valley Elementary School!
